| Nick Rabin, BSc. C.Eng, MICE (Member Institute Civil Engineers) |
Nick Rabin a civil engineer specialising in infrastructure water and sanitation, and has spent over ten years working as senior consultant in a variety of emergency situations and development projects in sub-Saharan Africa and East Asia. His experience includes Tanzania 1993: Six months infrastructure support for health initiatives, managing low cost construction of rural health centres; Thailand 1995-6: Bangkok waste water scheme, with Japanese aid fund, carrying out survey and assessments for water and sanitation programme; Rwanda 1996-7: Water and sanitation program in camps of 40,000 refugees, providing support to UNHCR and the government of Rwanda during the mass return of 750,000 refugees returning across the Zaire/Rwanda border; Assessment and site selection for rural housing projects in N.Korea 1999; and water and sanitation work on behalf of ECHO (EC Humanitarian Organisation), assessing water treatment and capacity across 45 towns. Since 2000, Nick has worked as client manager for large commercial projects in the UK, and has been a member of UKJAID (UK Jewish Aid for International Development), later WJAID, reviewing funding applications on its behalf. He is a member of RED R - Engineers for disaster relief. |
